We are looking for a Director of Financial Aid to join our team. We are a vocational school that thrives on supporting its staff, students and clients in a calm, supportive environment. The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for providing overall direction, leadership, and management of the Financial Aid Department. As part of the internal control concerning separation of duties, this position is directly responsible for disbursing federal, state, institutional and outside aid to students' accounts RESPONSIBILITIES: Remains up to date on government regulations and mandate where Title IV aid eligibility is at stake and act as a compliance officer for the University as it pertains to those regulations and mandates. Prepares and assists with major publications. Interfaces with the necessary personnel to ensure the timely delivery of financial aid funds and the appropriate coordination of student services. Acts as facilitator for specified committees and meetings utilizing strong decision-making, group processes, and problem-solving skills. Maintain lenders on private loan list. Reviews and assists in implementing appropriate and timely processes for completing federal, state, and athletic reports. Assists in forecasting trends in financial aid that impact student enrollment and assist in decision making for institutional enrollment goals and objectives. Coordinates integration of financial aid programs with the goals corresponding to recruitment and retention of students within the context of a comprehensive, independent institution. Oversees delineating, evaluating and revising university financial aid policies, including keeping the Financial Aid Policy and Procedure Manual current. Resolves complex financial aid problems referred by professional staff and provide technical guidance as required with the ability to communicate and implement decisions with discretion, honesty, and sensitivity. Coordinates and supervises the department's role in the annual university audit. Acts as liaison to the designated auditor and accounting staff to complete the audit in a timely and efficient manner. A cents € cents Coordinates and oversees the Direct Loan Program, including staying current on federal regulations, certifications, disbursements and reconciliation. A cents € cents Researches, analyzes, and develops departmental processes and procedures to increase/improve operational efficiency and to ensure proper controls and regulatory compliance while providing leadership (supervision) of professional staff members and coordinate with a designated staff member for supervision of student staff members. A cents € cents Interprets and implements federal, state and institutional regulations as they relate to packaging, budgets, disbursement of funds for traditional, degree completion and graduate programs offered both on the main campus as well as off campus locations. A cents € cents Leads developments in the financial aid module of the ERP and other technology applications, works directly with Information Technology to ensure necessary patches and updates to the financial aid module are completed. Serves as a member of the Banner Advisory. A cents € cents Serves as spokesperson for financial aid to internal and external constituencies. Requires strong ability to communicate effectively to students of all ages, faculty, staff and administration. A cents € cents Coordinates training for internal and external personnel including initial training for new staff, ongoing professional development, timely updates on changes in federal financial aid programs and regulations and training programs for other university departments such as admissions/ marketing representatives, and student account services.
