CEO/Executive Director : Port of Vancouver USA Vancouver,WA The Port of Vancouver USA is a multi:purpose port authority located along the banks of the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington. The port has handled a variety of bulk and break bulk cargos since 1912. The Port of Vancouver USA is a hub for more than 6.5 million tons of cargo moving from as far away as the US Midwest to the Middle East, making its way on barges, rail, ships and trucks : all converging on port docks. The majority of cargo at the port includes wheat, steel, pulp, autos, wind energy, large project cargo and dry liquid bulks. We are a versatile, hard:working port on a mission to create jobs and trade opportunities for the region. Our 275 million rail project is helping increase wheat, corn, and soy exports while attracting new customers shipping crude oil and other commodities. This is an exciting, highly visible time, requiring outreach and dialogue with our community and stakeholders. The port is also home to nearly 50 industrial tenants, from panel manufacturing to electronics recycling and small batch beer malt distribution. We seek a professional and knowledgeable CEO/Executive Director for a full:time regular position. The CEO/Executive Director, under broad policy direction from the Port of Vancouver USA Board of Commissioners, serves as the chief executive officer of the port and is responsible for all activities of the Administration, External Affairs, Operations, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources and Economic Development, as well as direction and management of the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of the port. The CEO/Executive Director maintains complete responsibility and authority for the administration of all port:related activities. In matters of governance and public policy, the position oversees the implementation and administration of port commission:established policies. The CEO/Executive Director has responsibility for maintaining excellent working relationships between the port and all local, state and national agencies, offices and representatives. The essential responsibilities this position may include, but are not limited to: Job Duties: A: Actively support the portA?s mission and vision and consistently demonstrate our values. A: Work effectively as a team player with all port employees. A: Provide complex and highly responsible support and assistance to the portA?s Board of Commissioners. A: Represent the port to elected officials and outside agencies; negotiate and resolve sensitive, significant and controversial issues. A: Perform the full range of managerial oversight functions; act as final appointing authority and retain administrative authority over organizational structure, budget and financial management, contract negotiation, staffing levels and design, administrative and operating policies and procedures, planning and policy development, community relations and citizen communications, litigation and liability, performance management and all other staff matters. A: Provide leadership and organizational strategies that promote communication and the pursuit of common objectives and goals among the departments to meet the portA?s key initiatives and maintain accountability for reaching goals. A: Collaborate with managers to identify programs, processes and training to align people and resources with organizational goals and objectives and support the portA?s constructive culture. A: Provide consistent delivery of high quality and cost effective administrative services that support the needs of the port and its lines of business (e.g. capital program management, risk management, budget and financing, financial analysis, accounting, government relations, marketing strategies, information technology, security, hiring, training, employee relations and benefits).
