Community & Operations Manager at NW Documentary
$30,000 salaried. Exempt w/ health benefits. Free tuition for NW Documentary workshops, and free access to NW Documentary equipment when equipment is not otherwise in use.
Monday - Friday. 11am - 7pm

NW Documentary is an arts non-profit that has been teaching and supporting documentary filmmaking and non-fiction storytelling in Portland since 2008. NW Documentary wears many hats, producing documentaries, supporting documentary filmmakers, screening films, and running youth programs and adult workshops. The community NW Documentary has developed over the years is our greatest resource and the reason why we do our work. As the Community and Operations Manager you will become a central figure in that community and should enjoy meeting new people, publicizing NW Documentary events and accomplishments, fostering strong relationships with members and community partners, as well as helping our members meet and network with each other.

You will work directly with the Executive Director to develop, implement, and review systems and best practices that support administrative tasks, workshops, communications, public relations, social media, membership services, and events.

Your primary responsibilities will be:
- Greet and assist members, students, and instructors at our office
- Administrative work (phones, email, and social media communication)
- Enroll, promote, and support workshops and educational programs
- Promote and manage events and screenings

In addition to those core responsibilities you will also:
- Oversee equipment rentals
- Maintain our equipment library (cameras, microphones, laptops, etc)
- Maintain our Edit Lab and Media Center
- Manage DVD sales
- Managing volunteers and interns

NW Documentary created with a D.I.Y. attitude. We are a dynamic and nimble organization with multiple projects running at the same time. You will thrive in this position if you are flexible, a strong collaborator, and a capable problem solver. This position will grow to accommodate the strengths and skills you bring to the organization. If you are ready to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes you will fit right in.

We are looking for a candidate who is self-motivated and organized with strong time management and great communication skills. You should be comfortable with technology, learning new software, and should have experience with Mac OS, Google Drive, Microsoft Office, social media, and the internet. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Wordpress, Mailchimp, FileMaker, or Quickbooks is great, as is a general knowledge of, and connection to, the history and geography of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.
