Local Unit & Position Description

Head of Department (HoD) Project Finance & Merger & Acquisitions (PFMA)

Responsible for leading and growing the PFMA group within the North America Region and representing the Company in the Regional renewables market. The individual will have profit and loss responsibility for Wind & Solar Due Diligence and Merger & Acquisitions and is geographically spread across USA & Canada.

The role will operate at both strategic and operational levels, providing leadership for a team of highly skilled staff, implementing a regional strategy, driving innovation, identifying opportunities for business growth and delivering efficiencies. As part of the Regional Leadership Team, the HoD contributes in shaping the future strategy of the largest global renewables consultancy in the world.

The role involves:

* P&L responsibility for assigned business areas

* Strategic and Operational level leadership

* Driving innovation and efficiencies

* Business development

* Management of specialist staff within the Service Line, where relevant

* Global collaboration

Main Responsibilities

Within their assigned departments the individual will be responsible for:

* Developing and implementing a competitive strategy for the region consistent with Company strategic direction.

* Identifying the strategic clients and developing customer relations to ensure the company remains prominent within the industry. Managing and developing new customer relationships, presenting a clear and consistent value proposition to win new business.

* Developing budgets to ensure the region is able to meet the financial revenue and profit targets.

* Monitoring regional performance against the business on a monthly and quarterly basis, re-forecasting quarterly to reflect variations from budget.

* Implementing appropriate resource planning models to ensure staff are effectively utilized in line with performance objectives and budgets.

* Identifying, mitigating and managing contractual and commercial risk within the region in line with company guidelines and practices.

* Leading and managing a team or teams of highly skilled professionals. This will include defining clear roles and responsibilities, setting clear expectations and performance objectives, coaching and mentoring, staff development and training etc.

* Ensuring effective strategies are in place with regard to retention and recruitment of personnel in line with the strategy and budget plans.

* Working with your teams within the region to ensure effective succession planning strategies are implemented.

* Identifying and supporting opportunities to collaborate with other parts of the business and other regions to enhance project delivery and enable the sharing of resources to contribute globally to the company performance.

Position Qualifications

Required knowledge & skills:

* Market and Industry knowledge of Renewables

* Proven track record for delivering results

* Proven track record of managing a consultancy business, ideally within the renewables business

* Proven track record of leading a team of highly technical specialist staff

* Demonstrates strong leadership skills, approachable with high integrity

* Ability to provide clarity around goals and strategies for how to achieve them

* Ability and leadership in championing change

* Commercial awareness individual must be able to identify and manage risk in the business and is able to optimize resources for best commercial effect

* Able to demonstrate experience of and working with peers across the business and understands the concept of team performance

* Able to demonstrate strong business acumen skills together with experience of running a P&L

* Proven experience of developing and building a business

* Strong communication skills

* Strong sense of accountability

* Frequent domestic travel and infrequent international travel

* Work location: Any DNV GL Renewables office in NA.

* Working in an indoor, environmentally controlled environment

* Able to occasionally lift 20 lbs.
