Job Description:/h3:
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for the development of new production methods and processes and as well as improving the flow and efficiency of existing production methods and processes. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will also be in charge of the technical aspects related to new product introductions (NPI). This role will lead a team of manufacturing engineers, process engineers, CNC programmers, and highly skilled Prototype/Proof Machinists.
Essential Functions:
:Develop new manufacturing processes and improve existing production methods by:
:Establishing the long:term goals for the team and creating the short and medium:term plans to accomplish them.
:Applying LEAN/Six Sigma/TQM concepts and PFMEA tools to achieve increased product quality, lower costs, and higher throughput.
:Drafting and designing layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to achieve maximum efficiency of the system and/or cell.
:Initiating projects to improving operational metrics on CNC machine centers and assembly flow paths.
:Working with across functional departments to ensure processes are designed to meet customer and product specifications.
:Lead the technical aspects of a New Product Introduction by:
:Rolling up your sleeves and getting into the details to insure your group is on target for scope, on time and under budget.
:Review customers technical specifications, drawings and other customer documents to supervise and assist in the development and preparation of manufacturing process that will produce the product at the necessary rate per its cost and quality requirements.
:Continuously improving the standard work and department procedures to incorporate lessons learned.
:Monitor and improve first part yield for new product introductions by applying structured problem:solving tools (PDCA, Ishikawa, etc.) and risk mitigation techniques (PFMEA).
:Team building
:Develops, implements, and maintains engineering documentation and standards to achieve best in class performance.
:Mentor employees and build upon a culture of continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications:
:B.S. degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aeronautical Engineering.
:5:10 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
:Previous management experience leading a technical staff of engineers.
:Successful track record of process design and implementation.
:Experience applying lean manufacturing concepts and tools.
:CAD/CAM modeling experience (Unigraphics:NX and CATIA V5 preferred).
:Working knowledge of GD and T: interpreting tolerance callouts and applying tolerance callouts.
:Proven ability complex problem:solving methodologies.
:Advance knowledge of quality management systems.
:Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Desired Qualifications:
:Coursework or certification in lean manufacturing concepts and tools.
:Experience with CNC machines and multi:axis production tools and techniques.
:Experience with metal finishing and painting processes.
:Aerospace industry experience.
