Senior Wish Manager

Reports To: Wish & Volunteer Director
Supervises: Wish Granting Volunteers

To fulfill the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions by managing all aspects of the wish process, from wish determination to wish completion. This position is responsible for sharing the annual wish caseload with other Wish Managers, and acting as the primary point of contact for more complex wishes. Communicates with volunteers, vendors, medical professionals and wish families in the delivery of a wish.


Wish Management
• Coordinate all details of wishes by meeting appropriate deadlines and adhering to national and chapter policies, guidelines and standards. Work with other chapters as needed. Maintain wish files in accordance to national standards.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for wishes with a higher level of complexity. These wishes typically involve children with more complex medical needs, or complex family dynamics.
• Collaborate with medical stakeholders and Wish & Volunteer Director to establish best practices for working with children with special needs and medical complications.
• Communicate with social workers and doctors regarding children’s wishes and changes in policies.
• Develop individual wish budgets for review and approval.
• One out of every six weeks on-call role handles wish emergencies and problems.
• With the Volunteer Manager, develop tools for volunteers to use when working with children on an as-needed basis.
• Maintain regular communication with volunteer wish granters and work with Volunteer Manager to address any communication issues.
• Collaborate with Director on stewardship and recognition of wish specific in-kind vendors and research on identifying new in-kind partnerships.
• Provide limited staff support for fundraising opportunities associated with wishes.
• Collaborate with Director on communications related to wish-specific media opportunities.
General Operations and Administration
• Meet performance benchmarks as defined by chapter and national standards.

• 5+ years of program management experience
• Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• 2+ years of experience working with volunteers.
• Demonstrated experience with database systems and spreadsheet software
• Collaborative work ethic with strong interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate complex schedules and written reports with deadlines

• Experience in a medical field strongly preferred
• Advanced degree or credential preferred
• Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus
