This is the really nice version of the Carbon 15 the type 97. It has a stainless steel fluted barrel with muzzle brake and integral scope rail. These weigh in under 5 lbs and have a removeable stock. They take AR15 mags and except for the forward assist are identical to the AR15 and the bolt and locking lug and other internals are interchangeable.

The gun has seen one magazine through it only. It comes with the original box, thermold magazine and a reddot scope...it really is like new!

This is the model that was built by Professional Ordnance in Lake Havasu Arizona.

This is the now famous rifle from South Korea (imported by Kimber of Oregon) that took the best components of the AR15 and AK47 and merged them into a single rifle. With the gas regulation and oprod of the AK the tight fitting and accuracy improving bolt and locking lugs of the AR could stay nice and clean.

It must not have been a bad idea since it looks like Ruger flagrantly copied the design with their expensive and well received SR556 (yes with 4 stage port vent and all)

This gun is in great shape and a pleasure to shoot. It's had very few rounds through it and is all stock (with thumbhole stock).

BTW, these are designed to take AR mags with preference for the thermold variety.

They stopped importing these in 1997.

I bought this rifle about 11 years ago because I thought it was cool that it shot .308 rounds and because it's built like a tank and just a cool, albiet kind of funky design. I shot a box of Remington commercial ammo through it and it functioned flawlessly. I was shocked at how accurate it was for a battle rifle with just average sights etc...

I realize the reaming job on these from CAI was hit or miss but this one seemed to have been done right. I'm only selling it due to an injury (not from shooting mind you) and I can't really get out and shoot much anymore and so should downsize.

If you're looking for a cool, European designed rifle in .308 at SKS prices this one is hard to beat.

Due to my injury, I'm into hifi these days so I would consider trades for high quality high efficiency speakers or possibly vacuum tube related components.
