Professional drumming instruction from an active performer with years of teaching experience.

Lessons are great for those aspiring to play drums for the first time or for those with a desire to improve and take it to the next level. Professional instruction can inspire, give freshness to a practice routine, and help with creative thinking.

Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses and each lesson is designed for each student. An experienced teacher has systems to help a student improve but also understands that the same approach will not work for every student. A student can learn to play beats for the first time or they can learn different approaches that help them climb from a plateau.

Private lessons are in Northeast Portland Oregon in the Alberta Arts district. The studio has two drum sets as well as various percussion (congas, djembe, doumbek, cajon and dununs).

Lessons are taught by Clifford Koufman. Clifford is an experienced teacher and performer. He has taken lessons with jazz legend Bob Moses, as well as Billy Martin (Medeski, Martin and Wood), Gary Chaffee, Bob Guliotti, Bob Kaufman and Mel Brown. He has studied music in Ghana and Guinea West Africa.
