Yes you could! Even if you do not know a bit of music theory I can show you how to play each of the seven modes of the major scale in any key in just minutes. I have developed a way to give instant access to any mode using my primary scale. This is moved up or down the neck of the guitar or bass by just counting the frets. I have been soloing this way for over twenty-three years. There is no learning music theory; in fact it just goes around music theory completely. There is no memorizing note names, or needing to reading music. Need F# AEOLIAN? No problem. How about Eb LOCRIAN? You have it right now! You will have the right notes before the piano player can remember them! I can show you for ten dollars, and I will pay the postage. Write for part of the method, free. I can prove its not a scam.
http://www.modesmethod.mysite.com/cgi-bin/blog From Modes Method users: I really like your method, its nice and simple.--Brandon Just got the info. this looks to be well worth the money and great for you to take the time to show your secrets, I have been playing for 20 years and still learning., this will help !!! --Danny Aha! I have always thought that such a method existed, since the guitar allows the use of repetitive fingering patterns, and the counting of frets idea is fantastic!--Carlos • Location: Portland

I am offering guitar lessons (acoustic and electric) for beginning to relatively advanced students. I teach both flatpicking and fingerpicking (Travis style), and teach several different styles of music: bluegrass, blues, jazz, country, and “folk”. I can also teach how to improvise in your style of choice. I try to integrate relevant music theory into the lessons, and also teach with emphasis on learning by hearing the music rather than by relying on tablature (or music notation). I teach at my house in NE Portland. I currently play guitar with the Steve Hall Quintet (a jazz group based here in Portland). My rate for lessons is $35 /hour, though a "sliding scale" is possible if you are unable to afford my going rate.

Yarrr!
We've been a pirate band in Portland for about the past five years.
It's been a band of dudes up until now, and we think it's time for the pirate girls to represent We get really good shows, and it's an easy band to book. It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on...which is optional. lol! It's one night a week practice and a few shows a month. I'd like to put series of out of town shows together for next spring. Probably Washington or northern California. We're looking for drums, keys, guitar, bass, stringy thing, blowy thing....Whatever you play is fine. It's more about the piratute. Ambition goes a long way. We're pirates first...the musicianship is just a necessary evil. Yarrrrr! Check us out at: www.myspace.com/sunkenchest Or just Google Sunken Chest. There is a bunch of stuff out there from outdoor shows we've played around the coast. • Location: NE Portland

Smart Bass Player with Chops and Dynamics Wanted (Milwaukie)posted: November 19, 2009, 11:42 AM

This is a new project. All original material. We are not established yet and we are very much in the writing stages. Not all the pieces are there yet but the core is very solid and has incredible writing and technical skills.
What we have - A solid drummer An incredible guitar player and song writer A smokin keyboard player and song writer (thats me) A groovy rhythm guitar player About seven songs in various stages of completion Killer practice space, recording capable (actually we record all our practices) Good attitudes (we like having fun but if your idea of rehearsal is getting wasted don't bother. We'll have to kick your ass and then the cops get involved... just save us the trouble) What we need - You, if you're a good bass player who is looking for some creative license and fun. Lead Vocals The plan is to round out the rhythm section, record some songs, then search for vocals. We have some high hopes. The written material is still evolving but is very cerebral. It's on the order of Tool, Alice in Chains, Joe Satriani (I know, one of these things is not like the other but if you can imagine their bastard child...). About us - We're all in our mid thirties (except for our Drummer, he's old (ok, he's 40)). We have lots of experience on our instruments and pro gear. Tim, drummer, and I are coming off a 4 year stint in a cover band. We realized that we had some pent up creativity that needed an outlet. We stumbled on a killer guitar player, Will, and started writing and haven’t looked back. Will and I have an excellent creative repoire and a strong theory background, Tim is always right there with a creative beat or two or 7. Jeff likes to hang out on rhythm guitar and rounds out our sound. The majority of the tunes right now are 4/4 but we are looking to experiment with off meter and have been experimenting with creative rhythms and chord changes. The music is slower and dark, lots of minor tonality and a few upbeat numbers as well. We don't have any expectations for the music right now. It just seems to happen. What we want from you - Rule #1: Don't be a dick! If you don't have any friends and your mom never calls you, you're a dick. We won't get along with you and we'll have to kick your ass (see above). Seriously though, personality matters a lot. It creates the environment that we create in. Please have some gear. Something that sounds good and can cut through the other instruments if needed. Have some experience. Nothing is worse than meeting a cool guy/gal who attracts wildebeest in heat when he/she plays. Again, the asskicking, blah, blah, blah. Commit or don't. If you miss a practice, cool. We all have lives. But call ahead and don't make a habit out of it or, you guessed it... So in conclusion, be awesome, and cool, and good on your instrument. If you still have questions please call Dustin (503) 752-4806. It's my business line too so don't freak out if I answer it as such. • Location: Milwaukie

Revolver "Portland's Beatle Tribute Band" is looking for a Guitar Player to cover The Beatles. So must be able to sing and play like George Harrison and also play a little keyboard. I'd like to introduce "Revolver" one of the best local Beatle Tribute Bands in the Great Northwest. We have sold out Theatre's like The Kingstad Center in Beaverton and The Venetian Theatre in Hillsboro. Check out our website at: www.MySpace.com/Revolverportland There's Sound and Video clips for you to see and listen too.
